- What is your position at Brighton Center and how long have you worked for Brighton?
- I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist and have been with Brighton for 5 years.
- What is one of the fondest memories you have while working with a child in the field at Brighton?
- I don't think I can come up with just one fond moment but I know the moments that fill my heart with the most joy are when a child learns how to communicate their wants and needs. Seeing how those tears those children use to cry turn into gestures and words is what I love to see. Every child has a voice, we just have to help them find it.
- What is the best part of your job?
- The best part of my job is getting to play with the children. Each day is filled smiles, hugs, laughter, and endless amounts of nursery rhymes.
- What do you love most about working with children and their families?
- What I love most about working with children and their families is the team approach that we take to help improve their child's communication and overall well-being. One of the biggest reasons why chose to work in Early Childhood Intervention was because of the significant impact that can be made in a child's life by having parent involvement in therapy. I have seen so many children make huge gains and it is all because parents are utilizing the skills we teach them in therapy.
- What inspires you?
- I am very much inspired by the families that give it their all to help their child succeed. I just love doing therapy with the whole family and seeing how everyone is working together and encouraging their little one.
- What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
- My brother has cerebral palsy and helping him throughout my childhood is what encouraged me to get a career in rehabilitation services.
