Working with you to advocate for your child’s education

Brighton Center’s Individualized ARD Support provides assistance to caregivers of children with disabilities or developmental delays as well as young adults with disabilities and delays through their entire ARD process. These individualized support services are fully comprehensive, including the initial meeting with a Brighton Center Advocate all the way to Due Process, if necessary. In addition to the one-on-one ARD support, this program offers parents an opportunity to strengthen their overall advocacy skills by participating in our workshops, which includes Special Education 101.

ARD support includes, but is not limited to:

  • Pre-ARD Consultation

  • Attending the ARD with the parent, at parent’s request

  • Reviewing the child’s IEP paperwork (receive from parent)

  • Helping to create a workable IEP/BIP etc.

  • Reviewing the child’s Evaluation paperwork or how to request an evaluation

  • Reviewing the child’s 504 Plan

  • Referring the parent to community resources

  • Referring the parent to other programs with in Brighton Center

  •  Being a good listener and support for the parent

To ensure that all caregivers and young adults have the opportunity to access this program, the fee is based on household income level.
