Group Parent Training
Group Parent Training is a FREE (5 session) advocacy training and family support program designed to empower parents and professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for children with a disability in order to insure they are receiving an appropriate public education. Parent Alliance for Learning and Support offers this advocacy curriculum to parents, professionals and volunteers with the primary focus on parents of children protected under the IDEA from birth to age 22. Free Childcare and meals are provided at every session.
Topics covered
ARD Clinics
ARD Clinics: is a two hour session which offers an opportunity for parents to come together in small group (no more than 5 participants) and will follow a short curriculum which will be able to assist parents with understanding their child's evaluation, IEP and placement options. ARD Clinic Topics also include such things as
 Extended School Year
 Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
 Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans.

Individualized Support (must be enrolled in a Group Training Class to qualify for support)
Individualized Support: ( must be enrolled in a Group Training Class to qualify for support) is a support system that provides one to one assistance to parents and young adults to allow an Advocacy Education Specialist to sit with a participant and help explain their IEP and/or possible transition paperwork. In addition, if deemed necessary will provide ARD Support to a participant by an Advocacy Education Specialist attending their ARD with them.
Self Determination
Self Determination is a training program for young adults with disabilities or delays to come, learn how to access certain areas of their community. Groups are five (5) two hour sessions and cover the following
 Session 1: Creating Dream boards
 Session 2: Transportation
 Session 3: Relationships
 Session 4: Education
 Session 5: Recreation
Professional Training
Professional Training: is a service offered to Community Partners as well as Community organizations. These may include: Local Education Agencies (ISD's) or service providers, such as Case Workers and Case Managers. Topics include
 Discipline in the School
 How to write an effective IEP
 Extended School Year (ESY) – What does it mean?
 Behaviors in school (FIE/BIP)
